Overview

OFI-supported researchers are developing a set of computer models of the Northwest Atlantic ocean and Canadian Arctic Gateway to help reconstruct the marine environmental conditions in the current climate. The computer model framework has been used to simulate ocean circulation, sea ice, biogeochemical variables and extreme marine conditions over the study region (supporting safe shipping), as well as predicting the effects of climate change on shifting ecosystems and variable fish stocks.
