The deadline to apply is October 15, 2024 (Atlantic Daylight Time).  

This round of the Seed Fund program is co-funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and Invest Nova Scotia, with supporting partner DeepSense.

About the Seed Fund program

The Seed Fund offers funding for ocean-related projects that offer high potential for innovation success.

By catalyzing innovative research and outcomes, the Seed Fund seeks to create opportunities for larger-scale research, policy initiatives, and commercial investments.

Since 2018, funding has been provided to more than 150 projects to advance innovative ideas in research, commercial and social concepts relating to the ocean, including achieving net zero, protecting biodiversity, and sustainable bioresources.

This call accepts applications from:

  1. Dalhousie University
  2. Memorial University of Newfoundland
  3. The University of Prince Edward Island
  4. Université du Québec à Rimouski
  5. Université Laval
  6. The University of New Brunswick
  7. University of Victoria
