The Industry Postdoctoral Fellowship (IndPDF) Program matches outstanding postdoctoral researchers with leading ocean companies to deliver the best talent to accelerate innovation and foster new partnerships. Postdoctoral fellows have the opportunity to increase the impact of their research through broad industry opportunities while gaining meaningful professional development experiences.  Industry partners get access to top minds and university resources through an efficient matching and placement program.

Eligibility

  • Postdoctoral fellowship projects must be based at Dalhousie University
  • PhDs must have been granted no more than five years prior to the project’s start date
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and international students/postdoctoral fellows over the age of 18
  • For-profit corporations and eligible not-for-profit corporations in Canada
  • For-profit businesses operating outside of Canada

Funding & duration

  • One- and two-year contracts will be considered
  • The postdoctoral fellow is expected to spend approximately 75 per cent of their time at the industry partner’s facilities and 25 per cent with the academic supervisor
  • The postdoctoral fellowships provide competitive compensation and are co-funded between OFI and the industry partner, with additional funding partners possible. A separate budget is allocated for co-curricular activities, including relocation expenses, travel to partner institution(s), conferences, workshops, summer schools, and the non-travel exception for the purchase of a laptop/computer.
  • Expenses such as long-term accommodation and visa application fees are not eligible expenses

Selection process

Expressions of interest will be evaluated and matched with collaborators as appropriate.

Applications and projects will be considered on an on-going basis.
