Aperçu

The development of tidal energy infrastructure in Nova Scotia can allow rural communities and the province to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. Simultaneously, this challenge allows small and medium sized enterprises, academics and regulators to become world leaders in tools, methods and strategies for the effective monitoring of tidal energy devices, the marine environment and social impact. This project aims to support the sustainable development of tidal energy in the Bay of Fundy by providing services science to fill knowledge gaps identified by regulators, industry, and academic collaborators.

Avantages de la recherche

  • Capture environmental changes as turbines are deployed using acoustic methods;
  • Develop data analysis techniques to process large quantities of observed and simulated data in real time;
  • Quantify the impact of the turbines and the energy they generate on the social licence of surrounding communities.
