Engage with TCA invites the Dalhousie research community to come together to explore and engage with the Transforming Climate Action (TCA) program.

Led by Dalhousie University’s Ocean Frontier Institute, in partnership with Université du Québec à Rimouski, Université Laval, and Memorial University, the TCA program focuses on reducing critical uncertainty in the climate system, advancing responsible marine carbon dioxide removal science, and supporting climate adaptation in ocean communities. Cutting across these themes are four Transformation Accelerators, which support and catalyze TCA projects to deliver impactful outcomes and benefits for Canada.

Engage with TCA is a week-long series of events that connects TCA researchers and students with colleagues across the broader Dalhousie community who want to learn more about program and help shape its next phase. Throughout the week, participants are invited to take part in interactive sessions with the Transformation Accelerators and the Research Implementation Unit, exploring current initiatives, shared priorities, and ways deepen and broaden engagement. Most of these events are offered more than once, allowing participants to choose sessions that best fit their schedules.

Registration is open to TCA researchers and all Dalhousie faculty, postdoctoral fellows, students, and highly qualified personnel.

  • Overview of current funding opportunities
  • Imagining Phase 2 of the program

Research Implementation Unit
13:00 – 14:30

  • What should the future of shared research infrastructure look like within TCA? This session will present the Research Implementation Unit’s (RIU) draft strategic plan and open the discussion to the research community. The RIU supports field operations, observing assets, and data collection, but its future direction depends on how well it aligns with evolving research needs. Through this session, we aim to gather input on priorities, services, and opportunities for collaboration to help shape a model that is responsive, sustainable, and impactful across the program.

Data Management Accelerator
08:45 – 11:45

  • This session introduces the Data Management Accelerator and the network of support available to researchers, including CIOOS Atlantic and SLGO. Short presentations will highlight available services and tools for data discovery. Participants will join parallel discussions for ocean and social sciences, followed by an interactive engagement session. Breakouts will focus on coordinated data collection, support for HQP, management of models and model outputs, and Indigenous data sovereignty. The session will help identify shared challenges and inform the ongoing development of data services within TCA.

Innovation and Commercialization Accelerator
13:00 - 16:00

  • The Innovation and Commercialization session is designed to spark discussion, interest, and build awareness around translating research into real-world impact. It will introduce key pathways, programs, funding opportunities, industry engagement approaches, and intellectual property considerations at a high level. The session also aims to initiate and encourage conversations to explore project-specific commercialization opportunities within the TCA ecosystem.

TCA Mixer at the Beaty Centre
