In collaboration with the Embassy of France in Canada, Dalhousie University will host a virtual workshop on October 26, 2023, for ocean-climate researchers in Canada and France, with the aim of identifying key research themes and facilitating potential partnerships focusing on the Transforming Climate Action research program recently funded by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund. We hope you will join us for this important dialogue.

This will be the first of several workshops showcasing Canadian and French ocean research opportunities within the exploratory framework of the France-Canada Joint Science and Technology Committee, launched in April 2023.

The workshop will include:

  • An overview of Canada’s new Transforming Climate Action research program.
  • A presentation on synergies between French and Canadian institutions engaged in ocean research.
  • Breakout sessions to allow researchers to explore in more detail collaborative links in the three following areas:
  1. Reducing uncertainty in the ocean carbon budget
  2. Ocean-based climate change mitigation
  3. Just and equitable adaptation
